Marathon Guide

Life Fitnes UK - February 9th 2005

Life Fitness has launched a Marathon Training Guide in conjunction with Olympic marathon runner, Tracey Morris, to cater for the growing trend in people training to take part in distance races. Published last month, the high quality guide provides comprehensive 16-week plans for complete beginners and intermediate runners, along with top tips and advice. The guide will be distributed to hundreds of clubs and centres across the UK.

In April 2004 Tracey Morris made headlines as the first British woman home in the Flora London Marathon in a time of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 52 seconds. This achievement meant that she qualified for a place at the 2004 Athens Olympics, where a commendable performance resulted in a top 30 place. Thirty seven year old Tracey had only completed one London Marathon prior to 2004, six years earlier. After taking a break from the sport, she took up running seriously again in 2002. Tracey will be hoping to better last year’s time when she lines up in the elite field for the 2005 London Marathon.

Jeremy Navrady, Life Fitness Marketing Manager, comments: “We are confident that the guide, will inspire hundreds of exercisers around the country to take up running seriously, like Tracey, and enter their first marathon. Gym users often seek advice about running from their fitness instructors so there is undoubtedly a strong market for this type of Marathon Guide to enhance the running experience of people working out in a gym environment.”

He continues: “The guide gives those who already enjoy running an opportunity to boost their motivation by working, step by step, towards a clearly defined goal. It also appeals to exercisers who don’t necessarily run regularly, but are looking for a new challenge – the key is to build up slowly from 5 and 10K races to a half marathon and beyond.”
